The 2nd open beta build is in testing at Activision right now and will be initially released to the QuakeCon audience for BYOC play. Splash Damage hopes to have it to FilePlanet within the next week or two for a wide release to all of our public beta testers.
You know how I said that we were on track with our "Normal Release Schedule"? Well, I lied, but here's Episode 3 where our English friends take a show off and the episode is run by two Yanks. We talk about the next beta build, E3's demonstration of the console version, and delve a bit into the mysterious world of in-game rankings.
At E3 2007 IGN had a chance to interview id Software's Tim Willits about id Tech 5 and the new Wolfenstein game. Seems they will be showing the new Wolfenstein at this years QuakeCon.
Even Balance has put up their Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Support page. You can use it for support and update downloads.
Episode 2 definitely has a bit more meat on its bones as we sink our teeth into some news about competition within the public beta as well as a tip for beta players to unlock their framerates. After that, we have a bit of a discussion on in-game billboards, knowing that Quake Wars will also support this type of revenue generating content.
Note: This may be a conflict of interest since I am one of the hosts on the show...sorry! Well here it is finally, episode 1 of the Quake Wars Podcast. This is an extremely short episode and because of the delay in post-production (Imran's fault) some of the news will be relatively old. Either way, here it is.
A press release by Activision which besides other uninteresting things includes the decision to move the release date of Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars into fiscal year 2008. For those who don't know: Fiscal 2008 starts April 1st 2007.
This podcast has some interesting statements from the guy that got to play the game. For instance: "One thing is that they insisted that it's actually slower than Quake III by quite a significant margin, but when you're used to playing Battlefield...Quake Wars is faster than hell."
