ROE in Quake Wars?

http://community.enemyterritory.com/forums/showthr...

It seems that Battlefield 2 has something called Rules of Engagement. It's something like a bunch of rules by which you are supposed to play. If you don't your account will be deleted or something like that. Anyway, the question is: Do you want some server-police to come while you play, spectate you and punish you if you act "improperly"?

afaik this all depends on the server owners. if you play for free on a server that someone else pays, then you also have to adapt to the rules of the owner of the server. eg in bf2142 there are servers which enforce squadplay. if you don't play in squad -> kick because why waste everyone else's limited quality play time? it's same as etpub, etpro, jaymod, etc. you're forced to play a certain style. same will be with QW, i bet there'll be some inf only servers etc, i have no problem with that tbh, if i don't like the rules on one server, i don't play on it.

Surely the point of Quake Wars is to reduce the necessity of playing in a squad - the individual missions for each class sort of enforce that without the player having to do a great deal about it like joining a squad.

As far as ROE's, go, I think they are to generally reduce the amount of ass-hattage that goes on, such as vehicle camping, vehicle suicides, etc.

I think that ROE's are necessary, as a lot of people do need 'babysitting' while they play; You are without identity, thus psychologically more prone to be a tosser if something doesn't go your way. Human science, baby!

Administration of servers should be left entirely up to the server operators in my opinion. If these ROE sites want to operate as the have in BF2, it should be purely on an opt in basis, where server operators can chose to be part of their admin system with their rules/administration.

As a server operator of some degree, there's no way I'd want to hand over that kind of control to another party, if it can be managed fine internally.
